“Calmly and without fear I trust in my body to birth my baby."

About Valerie

After working for a third-party administrator for over 25 years I decided to follow a dream and become a birth and postpartum doula. I’m so honored at each and every birth to be a part of this life changing event.  I feel as though my life and the birth of my three children add value to the work I do with mothers and their partners. I knew with my very first birth that a doula was so needed by the side of every laboring woman. I remember begging the nurse not leave my side while I labored.  Her experience, and nurturing presence as a women enabled me to find the strength to labor and feel secure.

My goal is to work with women and their families to create a safe space to labor and deliver and to experience the full joy of birth. I would especially love to work with low income mothers and teens in providing affordable birth support and care.

I am delighted to join The Joyful Doula Circle.

My own birth story, with both of my children, was not the best. I was fearful and uncertain about the process of giving birth and what choices I did or did not have. I was plain scared. No woman should have to feel like that. That's what I love about doula work - having the opportunity to support women in labor and share with them their options and be there in support to ensure they can create and have an amazing birth experience.

Becoming a Doula provides me an opportunity to support women during the birth of a child! I don't know anything that could be better than that.

Joyful Doula Philosophy

At Joyful Doula, we believe in empowering women to trust their own voice and the inherent wisdom within the human body and physiology of birth.

You have a right to be an active participant in your own birth experience. That means being allowed to make informed choices about your practitioners, your birth setting, interventions (or lack thereof).
